A Celebration of
Friends and Great Times
Some streams have a history where ghosts
walk and the Letort is one of them. One of the birthplaces of
both fly fishing and modern fly fishing design. Here a
nice brown comes out of the water on to the cress. Like
their counterparts in Great Britain, the Chalk Streams these
spring creeks are not easily fished but the rewards are great
to those who master their
secrets.

anglers do because it can spell disaster if you don´t play the
fish properly. Photo by Jack Hunter.
The
magic place of the Upper Letort at Bonnybrook. Many a huge
trout has emerged from the cress beds or under this old bridge.
This fishing is not for the uninitiated because it can be
extremely difficult.

Many a famous battle between trout and angler has happened
here.

they were young on the Letort. Notice the hats...kind of
neat!

This is a real special photograph for Lefty
Kreh I'm sure. This is Lefty when he was quite young and Rossy
Trimmer on Opossum Lake near Carlisle PA. The smiles on their
faces tells you all you need to know.

Kreh with the late Ross Trimmer. Rossy just absolutely enjoyed
the companionship of other fly anglers. He often told me these
were the greatest times. Photo by Irv

Okay this is the historical
photograph of Vince Marinaro marrying the waters of the English
Chalk streams with the Letort. Contrary to the PFBC, the PA
limestone streams are basically the same type as the English
chalk stream and should probably be managed in a similar
way.

My old friend the late Gene Utech displays his
Scottish Garb. He taught me a lot about fly fishing and I'll
never forget our times together whether on the stream or at his
house with his lovely wife Janette.

anglers and a consummate historian of fly fishing (circa
1957) . Photo by Irv Swope.
